Children in our programs come to us from a variety of situations, each with their own individual needs.  They may require a positive role model who is outside the family circle, assistance with coping skills to deal with their own unique circumstances or simply need a special friendship.

  • A Little Brother should be between the ages of 7 and 14.  The child is normally from a single parent mother-led family, without the presence of a consistent male role model in his life.
  • A Little Sister should be between the ages of 7 and 14.  The child is normally from a single parent family, either a mother or father led household.

The first step towards building a friendship for your child is to contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in your community.  You will be referred to a Mentoring Coordinator who will be able to answer your questions about our programming.

The next step is obtaining and completing the Child Application and Questionnaire forms.  You then need to return the completed forms to your community office.

The next step is the interview process.  The Mentoring Coordinator will contact you to set up an interview appointment.  This interview will enable the Mentoring Coordinator to evaluate your child's needs and interests and ensure our agency is best suited to fufill their needs.

The final step upon acceptance into our program and before being place on our active waitlist is both the parent and child must participate in our Child Safety Program.

Your child can now participate in our bi-monthly waitlist activities while waiting to be matched with a Mentor!
