Dear Friends,

Every week families in Abbotsford, Mission, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows turn to Big Brothers Big Sisters to seek a mentor and a friend for a young child.

We anticipate that by the end of 2009 we will have served 365 children during this year.  This is an increase of 22 (from 343) over 2008.  This represents local family needs for external supports.  Having served the Fraser Valley for forty years we are pleased to continue to provide local professional mentoring match and support services that support your families, friends, neighbours and people you have yet to meet.

We often hear stories from our Bigs and our Littles about the first tentative and unknown meetings and times spent together, awkward and even nerve wracking first moments as time together turned from days to weeks and then to years, their friendships strengthening and weathering loss, celebration, success, sadness and triumph.  Many of the matches have maintained decades of commitment!
