History

Big Brothers Big Sisters Abbotsford, Mission, Ridge Meadows has been creating friendships since 1969. We started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and have grown to include a variety of different programs that serve both boys and girls.  We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to be on the leading edge of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement in Canada.

Big Brothers Central Fraser Valley was incorporated in 1981 and Big Sisters of Central Fraser Valley in 1988. In the beginning our agencies were serving about 20 children each. Over the years we have dramatically increased our services. Together we have served thousands of families in the Central Fraser Valley (Abbotsford and Mission, BC) and enhanced the lives of numerous children through our mentoring programs.

In April 2001 the two agencies were officially amalgamated serving over 200 families. In April 2002, Big Brothers & Big Sisters Central Fraser Valley became Big Brothers Big Sisters Abbotsford, Mission, Ridge Meadows with a central office in Abbotsford, BC and two field offices in Mission, BC and Maple Ridge, BC. Our agency now serves more children than ever before and we continue to expand our youth serving programs.
